Most windows these days are made from Vinyl, Aluminum and Glass; but did you know there’s different types of glass?
Low-E (low-emissivity) glass is a specialized glass created to minimize the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that comes through the window – without minimizing the amount of light that passes through. Basically, that means that Low-E glass has a thin, transparent coating that reflects heat. This coating helps regulate temperatures by keeping the interior heat indoors, and the exterior heat outdoors. Not only that, but most of these windows are made with several panes to act as insulation.
Speaking of insulating agents, some of the best energy efficient windows in Houston are even filled with gasses like Argon or Krypton! These non-toxic, odorless and colorless gasses insulate much better than regular air.
